“Crossing the line between public and private is something our forefathers were smart enough not to do,” UFT president Mike Mulgrew said.

The plan to use taxpayer money to fund security guards at private schools — to the tune of nearly $20 million a year — is getting a big F from two city unions.
The UFT and the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators both panned the plan on Friday.
“Crossing the line between public and private is something our forefathers were smart enough not to do,” UFT president Mike Mulgrew said.

Councilman David Greenfield (D-Brooklyn) sponsored the legislation.

The money “could be put to better use in any number of ways,” said CSA president Ernest Logan.
But Councilman David Greenfield (D-Brooklyn), who sponsored the legislation, expected it to pass the City Council next week. He said it is needed to protect all city school kids.
