Leave of Absence - Holidays


A new employee must work thirty (30) days to be entitled to a holiday allowance conversely if an employee is absent for thirty (30) days (sick, LOA etc) he loses holiday allowance (compensation never gets holiday).

There are eleven (11) holidays

Pick holiday A holiday where a pick of runs (Saturday or Sunday schedule) is conducted to replace the regular weekday schedule. Employees on vacation on a pick holiday get eight (8) hours pay for the day.

Employees who pick to work get the pay for the run they work plus an additional eight (8) hours holiday pay or can accrue the day (must submit the accrue form to save days).

Night differential for pick holiday is paid as a regular weekday.

  • Regular weekday runs do not operate on this day.

Non pick holiday on a non pick holiday all regular weekday scheduled runs are operated. Employees can get eight (8) hours additional pay or accrue day.

Employees on vacation get run for the day.

Employees going sick get eight (8) hours pay for the day (all holidays including birthday)
