A straphanger spotted a swastika and other hateful messages on the downtown-bound 1 train on Sunday.
Eagle-eyed elementary school teacher Elaine Chu, 51, spotted the messages on the 1 train south of W. 86th St. to Columbus Circle between 9:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. and sent photos to the Daily News early Monday.
The vandal drew one swastika in permanent marker on a bench in one of the cars on the train.
A Brooklinen advertising poster was defaced with a second swastika and the message, “Hugs you liberals.”
A third hateful message appeared on a subway map in the train, reading “Love Trump’s 2016, Love Hate.” Three hearts were scrawled on the map as well.
Chu and another woman on the train were horrified.
“At first I just kind of took it in, but then I decided I’ve got to report this to show people what’s going on,” said the longtime city resident, who teaches third grade kids.
“It's horrible and to me it's a direct result of the elections and what's being condoned based on the rhetoric that’s out there. I didn't expect to see it so readily in the city.”
She said the shocking messages were already on the car when she got on the train.
MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz said workers are looking for the vandalized car.
"These were not reported which means they may have already been addressed at the terminal by cleaning crews,” Ortiz said. “We are actively looking. We ask customers who spot this vandalism to include car number so we can get to it quicker."
Hate crimes have spiked by 31%, jumping from 250 incidents at this point last year to 328 as of Sunday, NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill said.
“The trends are a bit disturbing ... We've an uptick in hate crimes, actually a little more than an uptick,” O’Neill said on John Catsimatidis’ radio show on Sunday.
State Sen. Brad Hoylman said Sunday that he found two swastikas on his Greenwich Village apartment building. He said three swastikas were found on the doors of students who go to The New School.

His eminence now is urging the gun lobby to seek approval of assault rifles to be in urban - he opined that once they see his cache of assault rifles - those terrorists will be shaking in their boots.
His excellency says he has renamed his pets to: a) nasty woman, b) bad hombre, c) wall, d) drain the swamp. He has embarked on a new training routine for his pets after wearing his Schutzstaffel uniform with its insignia.

Just my opinion but when they do catch these swastika writers they will find they are the same people protesting outside trump tower. JMHO
