Leaders from different Disney World labor
unions will meet Wednesday ahead of wage negotiations for workers.
The unions are hoping to negotiate pay raises
from the current contract minimum of $10 an hour. Union representatives say
nearly 18,000 of 36,000 employees are earning less than $11.
Union representatives also also said that
only 8 percent of the workers they represent earn more than $15 an hour and of
the 36,000 cast members, 25,000 are working full time.
Leaders will finalize their proposal
Wednesday night and announce it during a news conference.
During the last negotiation in 2014 Disney
agreed to raise it's starting pay to $10 an hour from $8.03 an hour. Union
representatives say the raise helped, but argue that Disney can do better this
time around.
