Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has gained a reputation for being rather reclusive in his role as the nation's new top diplomat — and a report suggests he might even have trouble looking people in the eye.
The former Exxon Mobil executive has mostly remained below the radar since Inauguration Day, making few public appearances and drawing ire for choosing to travel without a press pool.
Tillerson's lone wolf behavior apparently extends to his own staff, with career diplomats at the State Department telling the Washington Post on Thursday that they have yet to meet their boss.
The same diplomats have also been instructed to not speak to Tillerson directly — "or even make eye contact," according to The Post.
Last week, Tillerson revealed to the only reporter allowed on his flight to China that he actually "didn't want this job."
"I was going to go to the ranch to be with my grandkids," the Texas native said, adding that his wife talked him into taking the post.
Tillerson conceded to the reporter, Erin McPike of the right-wing Independent Journal Review, that he's not used to the spotlight.
"I'm not a big media press access person," he said. "I personally don't need it."
