Views on Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association (CTA)

It is so good to finally see these changes. I know these changes will most likely end with the end of Unions both public and private but this was a necessary task to get where we as a work force need to be. Best possible scenario : Because of this lawsuit and the subsequent ruling that is expected, the union members that are left will become increasingly more angered by the fact that some people don't have to "pay their fair share" and will quit the union more and more. Their thinking will be why should I pay my union dues and they get the same thing as I do. So they will drop their membership. Then once membership is at a all time low, not even enough to have a majority the union will be gone. This will still take a few years but slowly but surely that will be the last of the unions as you know them.

But then people will re organize, forming "new and improved" unions, unions that actually take into account not only what's best for the workers they represent but the company that the workers work for. This "new and improved" union will not be a finance wing of any political party but a advocate for the worker only. This "new and improved" union will not try strong-arm tactics or intimidation to get what they want but they will show the company's  and prospective union members that they have the  leadership that will be the example of what unions were and can be.  Finally the "new and improved" union will play a role in bringing the best and brightest to the top and getting rid of the under performers allowing for a new , motivated employee to come in.

When your union looks like what I just described you will have a successful Union/ Worker relationship. If it doesn't you will go away quietly.
